Who we are

Tether is built by a team of students at UT Austin. We aren't a company yet, so "we" here means that team.

Tether isn't available yet

This site describes an app we're building. The phone screens on it are concept screens, not a working product. Right now the only thing we collect is what you type into the waitlist form.

What we collect

When you join the waitlist: the phone number or email you enter, which form you used (and the ?ref= tag in the link, if any), the time, and your browser's user-agent string. Nothing else is asked for.

The waitlist is for people 18 and older, and we don't knowingly collect anyone younger's info.

This site doesn't set cookies.

What we use it for

Only to tell you about Tether's launch. If you gave a phone number, that means a text; if you gave an email, an email. Reply STOP to any text, or email us, and we'll stop.

Where it's stored

Waitlist entries are stored in a database hosted by Supabase. The site is hosted on Vercel.

How long we keep it

Until we've told you about the launch. After that we delete waitlist entries within 90 days, unless you've started using the app. If Tether never launches, we delete the whole list.

Removing your info

Email hello@usetether.today from the address or about the number you signed up with, and we'll delete it.

When the app launches

The app will have its own privacy policy, covering location, movement and battery data, before it collects any of it. It will never read your messages or listen to your microphone.
